    Ubuntu is not for everyone. Good thing we have hundreds of choices to select from.

    It maybe sounds like your hardware isn't happy with Ubuntu 9.04 (which I don't run) but I could be wrong.

    Right on TBob.

    UBUNTU not working

    Yosepht,

    I am with you after playing with Ubuntu with a live CD I decided to load in on a new hard drive. P4 1.8 Mhz. I probably got the worst error message you can get. "Disk Boot Failure". After changing the settings to boot from the hard drive making sure the correct master cable and pin switch on the hard drive is correct I get nothing. Hard drive is a WD 320 and all the documentation is windows with it. Do I need to format the hard drive using Linux before loading any software on it? I went though the installation instructions on the CD.

    @Userb1b,
    Do you have anything already installed on this HD? If so, you'll need to either re-size the partition to make room for Linux, or if it's going to be a dedicated Linux drive you should be able to just install over everything. No need to format.

    Thanks for the reply. No it is new hard drive WD EIDE Caviar SE. 320 GB when I installed Ubuntu9.04 I let it use the whole hard drive and I did not get any errors during the install. I am trying to load it again and see if it works this time. The error is ISO Linux Disk Error 01 AX0201 Drive 80.

    After reinstall I still have the error. Can I boot from the terminal under the live CD and see if I can get Linux to run from the hard drive?

    This thread makes mention of that error, and it seems that you may have either a bad burn, or faulty media.
