Greetings
Hi all,
I have to call myself an Old-noob.
I have been fiddling around with Linux for years and built a few boxes.
It has been a frustrating experience at points.
More often than not I invested hours building a system only to find some major deal breaker where the machine is unusable for the purpose designed. I have only built systems on older machines because those are what's available to me. But to be fair I thought that was one of the calls of Linux.
Anyway, I am chalking it up to holes in my knowledge and giving it another stab.
So here we go.
To be fair I am am fairly savvy for a noob, I worked as an admin for a large installation of macs (mixed network with PCs) and ran the Mac OSX server, So i do know a little and am comfortable at the command line.

Hello, and welcome to Linux Forums!

I found having a specific purpose for my Linux box helped in my learning. For me it was MythTV. It required not only learning terminal commands, but device drivers, firmware, compiling, etc.Paul
Please do not send Private Messages to me with requests for help. I will not reply.
