    Arrow Hello fellow Linuxians!

    My name is Soupstuffs. I'm just your average computer/fantasy/music nerd, but I've only recently become fairly competent with them.

    I started with Windows 95 back when I was about 5, and continued using Microsoft products until about six months ago, when I discovered Ubuntu. Don't get me wrong, Linux always interested me, but the only distro I tried installing before that was Slackware and it was way beyond my Windows-softened mind at the time.

    Most of my computer time was spent online, so of course I learned HTML when I was rather young. But, I didn't pick anything else up until again, about six months ago. Now, I've mastered HTML and CSS and I'm fairly competent at PHP, MySQL, and XML and working with PHP-based content management systems. I also want to pick up Javascript, ASP, and other languages I'll have to learn to earn a living in the field.

    The problem is... I'm still a complete newb to programming anything outside of web development. The fact of the matter is I love Linux and I love Open Source, and I really, really want to do my part and contribute. But, and this is a bit but, I suck right now. I've learned a lot using Xubuntu since discovering my computer is not powerful enough to handle the somewhat bloated GNOME and KDE desktop environments, but it wasn't until a couple of hours ago that I managed to install my first 'geek' Linux distro: Arch Linux.

    So, I hope to become an active member here. I hope to learn from the gurus and help with things that I know. But most of all, I hope to love and share soup with all of you beautiful Linuxlings here at the Linux forums!

    With lots of love and extra-hearty soup,
    Soupstuffs

    Hope you're enjoying Arch!
    Code:
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include <stdlib.h>
    int main (int argc, char *argv[])
    {
       fprintf(stdout,"Arch is the best!\n");
       exit(EXIT_SUCCESS);
    }
    And programming isn't the only way to help with the community. Helping out on the forums is also important, or contributing to documentation, or contributing financially to projects, etc. (At least I tell myself that since I don't know squat about programming. )

    Welcome.

    Speaking as someone who has just dumped the buntu safety net and installed Slackware after a few years, congratulations for making the move so damn quickly

    My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.
