Wait, India has a space program? Look, I'm all for saving tax dollars but don't you think outsourcing is getting just a little out of hand?
...seriously though, congrats to India. It's nice to hear about someone other than the US and Russia working off-world.Registered Linux user #270181

To be more precise, It was US instrument, found this..but it was riding Indian mission found this.
That would be great for human beings in general
OT,I'm not in favor of outsourcing ,it's being done by big companies to keep up their profit margin.Destroyed innovation(if any) and individuality from this part of world. IT services companies here exploiting middle class people .

I don't care who gets a working Lunar Base going with Launch facilities, a working space craft industry, with comfortable living conditions. I do know that Water is a major key in doing something like this. I hope mankind has the vision and will power to set up a working Lunar Base for spce exploration. I won't see it in my life time probably. But I wish them the best of luck with it.

. Too much cussing involved.

Yes, this is good. Congratulations to India's team!

On a semi-related note, Peter Diamandis, the co-founder of Zero-G, is devoting energies to developing future off-world mining operations. He wants to start with the moon, then expand to Mars, then to the moons of other planets. Before you call him a crackpot, consider that there are enough valuable ores in some of these locations to finance several trips.

So, will this spur a search for life on the Moon?
It would appear there's water on the moon, but in a place nobody could survive in a space suit, I'm sure. Isn't that a bit awkward? I belive that crater is around -245F, but I'm not sure, as the news source I got it from conveniently left out that it was an Indian mission that found it.
This thread blew any misconceptions I had about India out of the window, I'll say that. I don't mean any ill in saying that, by the way.

It's great news for India and the rest of us too!
I've always been puzzled by this "WOW there is water on the moon?" from the scientific community. I mean, they tell us that the moon was created when a large object hit the Earth and broke a chunk off. Doesn't it stand to reason that there should be water on the moon if it was created from the earth?I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.

I remember just over a year ago the astronomers and scientists were excited about having extracted water from moon rocks that the astronauts brought back, so it stands to reason there'd be more water of some amount on the moon.
Maybe the next time they send anyone to the moon, they should send a dowser along!
