    NetworkManager not connecting to net

I am new to Linux and this forum group. Hopefully this is the correct place to ask for help.

I recently received a laptop with Fedora 8 on it (attended a Linux BootCamp 2day class)....

Last week, when I attempted to connect to internet with FireFox (installed by others) I was unable to connect. I HAD been able to connect while in class.

Communicating with Support, they identified for me to run NetworkManager start and everything was great.

Yesterday, as root, Linux indicated that it had 295 updates that were needed to be installed (updated), and I let it do its thing.

Afterward, no more connection even if networkmanager was running (ps -ef). I swapped cat5 cable with another good one and systems says connected to eth0. I have ip address set up in ifconfig but cant ping out or be pinged....

    Suggestions?

    Thanks

    Hi and welcome.

Please post the output of the following three commands:
    /sbin/lspci
    /sbin/lsmod
    dmesg | grep wlan0

By the way, Fedora 8 reached end of life 1/7/09 and is no longer supported. I recommend installing a more recent distro. Fedora 11 is the current release.

Can you also post the output of
    Code:
    /sbin/route

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

    Hello and Welcome!

If you had that many updates, then your kernel probably got updated as well.
If that's the case, you'll need to reinstall your wireless.
In addition to the above commands, please post
    Code:
    ifconfig -a
