Just ordered a new laptop from Mesh with no OS
(for one of my daughters). Interesting they were best price by £70+ ... option to buy Winblows approx £70 ... I wonder if there is a connection

They don't need to ship it with an OS
...

As a base system I'll install Arch with IceWM, Xfce and Kdemod. I'll set her up an admin and user account and let her loose with sudo pacman

Out of curiosity, why kdemod now that the official KDE 4.3 packages are modular as well?

kdemod-legacy she has to use it on the desktop system ... I try to keep some things consistent. She used Fluxbox on her laptop and recently IceWM (only thing that would run with Gentoo/Funtoo on 92MB RAM) ... I'll get the old laptop back - RAM going upto max 256MB. Originally Posted by reed9
