new guy here
Hello,
I am a Jr Linux Administrator for a large Energy Services company in Houston, TX. I have been working with RHEL 5 and CentOS for about 4 months now and plan to become a guru in the UNIX / Linux world.
I am 22 years old, and have been working in IT (officially) for the past year. I got my start as a young teenager riding on the coat tails of my big brother, who has been working with servers for quite some time now. I was originally geared towards Microsoft, and received an MCP for W2K when I was about 14, which I later realized is worthless when you're not even old enough to work yet. Now I have turned my attention to Linux / UNIX and I am very psyched about it, and hope to be able to make whatever contribution I can to the community.
In the past 4 months, I have come a long way from not knowing what a shell is to writing simple bash scripts and performing daily administrative tasks in an Enterprise Server environment. I joined this forum in hopes to build a strong foundation for my training and I read somewhere that becoming active in the community would be a great way to hone my skills.
