Need suggestion for web host
We are (me and my friend) looking for a very good Web Hosting service..
I'm going through many lists and reviews (mostly fake), and spending my time in reading complicated TOS. My eyes are poped out because of stress, see -->
- Which will provide mod_wsgi or mod_python. not just PHP.
- Unlimited b/w is not required... It should be able to handle 500-1k unique visitors a day (for now, may increase later)
- Should support multiple and wildcard domains.
- They should not edit or mess with the content, there should be enough privacy.
- Must have good speed, It should not be like 5kbps speed and unlimited b/w. Host should be faster. Unlimited b/w is not required.
- No hidden charges.
- Should be able to handle tons of requests and queries without whining. (as many users experienced about justhost.com)
Currently I'm looking at DreamHost, BlueHost, HostGator and GoDaddy
I also gone through Top 10 Linux Shared Hosts
Now bit more stress on my eyes -->
Help!

hi there b2b,
You will find great reviews and honest experiences with all of the hosts and resellers you listed. You'll also find scathing (and honest) reviews of the very same hosts. Point simply being that provided you go with a known reputable company like the ones you've listed, you will be the one best suited to see if it suits your needs. If it doesn't, moving a site is a piece of cake.
In regards to non-common processes being available to you: With your expectations and requirements, I would suggest that you consider a virtual server. You're allowed close to free reign on the OS, apache, php, etc. as well as guaranteed minimum resources. If you have any performance expectations at all, then you shouldn't be considering shared hosting. I'm not saying that they're crap, I'm saying that there's a couple hundred other people on your machine with the same expectations and trying to use their share of resources.
I've run VDed servers through GoDaddy and had fine dealings with them. You can build your specs to suit and they hand you the keys to it in a few hours.
hope it helps,

I tested off the charts for MENSA. Unfortunately, it was off the wrong end of the chart.

VPS options is quite costly for now..
Is shared hosting service is capable of hosting a blog having 150+ loyal readers + 500+ search engine trafic? (about 1k-2k impressions).
What would be a good host for such site? and what kind of pacakge will be suitable?
I'm just getting so random suggestions from everywhere.

It will most definitely handle that. As for who's the best, I've dealt with every company you've listed for my clients and I've not had a problem yet. It seems that GoDaddy is the most popular choice of the people I work for.

I have my site with Hostgator. I use their hatchling package and I can't praise them enough. If I can warn you off Fasthosts, then my day has not been wasted

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

My website is also with Hostgator. Their " live chat " is great for questions or problems and I only had to wait once in line to chat with someone.
Elija stated to stay away from Fasthosts!
I say stay away from Namesecure for website hosting!!Linux registered user # 414321

Is there any issue with Digg/Stuble and other traffic with hostgator?
and whats up the CPU usage limit with both of these..
My search is narrowed to HostGator and GoDaddy.
and trying to find out the hidden pricing.

I haven't had that problem. But it would be a nice one to have

Way beyond anything I have used!
I get between 20 and 200 visitors a day so not on the scale you are looking at but the Hatchling is the smallest of their packages!
Ooh-er Elija just said he has a small package*

My visit count is bit different, It never goes below 350, and 600 on average...
Is it possible to get domain from elsewhere in cheaper costs..
and use it on Hostgator? That sounds funny, but will it make any difference..
GoDaddy is quite cheaper, but the only problem I see is with Databases, will databases stripped to 200M cause any later troubles..
because wordpress or drupal or any other CMS will just create single database and it will keep growing it. X_X

I was also suggested FatCow, does anybody know anything about it?Last edited by b2bwild; 10-21-2009 at 10:51 AM.
