Fedora 12 Beta has arrived!
Do you plan to give it a try or will you wait until it goes stable? I haven't used Fedora since version 10 but I think I might give this one a spin around the block. Here is a list of known bugs.

I used Fedora exclusively from 3 until 7 and ran 7 for over a year and a half. IMHO, Fedora lost it's appeal for me somewhere around 9 while attempting to pack as much new stuff into their releases as they could without actually getting them working. Each release from 7 on had more stuff that should work out of the box but didn't. By 10, it couldn't detect my network and PulseAudio was like a steaming pile of poo.
I'll save my cd-r.Aloof linux user #whatever.
I tested off the charts for MENSA. Unfortunately, it was off the wrong end of the chart.

I might just wait for the stable version. I am very pleased with the Fedora 10 but when I tried to install 11, I had a difficulty with installation issues. Something to do about the ext4 format & mounting. I heard that this bug is already fixed by Fedora 12. I think a month or so is not long of a wait for me.

I'll wait for the official release, but I have to agree with schwim on this, calling it "stable" is a bit of a misnomer. In my last few rants on Fedora it's been sort of like a game of "Guess which critical part of the OS will completely tank the first time you run it?"

I am using Fedora 11 right now, with no problems, but I will wait until 12 goes stable to replace this one. 10 was great, and I almost didn't move to 11.
But yeah, no fedora release is really stable. That is what makes it interesting I guess.
I don't use pulseaudio or gnome though, so that may skew my experience.

I'm not a Fedora fan so I'll probably give it a miss. That said I might take the final release for a spin on a test box to see if it changes my mind.
The last version I tried was 10 and lasted a ridiculously short time when the post install updates that most distros do decended in to what I understand is called dependency hell.If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate! (Zapp Brannigan)
My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

Thanks for the replies folks, it's just as I thought, I didn't think many people here would be jumping on the Fedora bandwagon, especially for a beta release of bleeding edge software.
Gruven, are you not using Gentoo/Funtoo anymore? I see in your sig that Fedora is your main Distro.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.

I'll sometimes use beta packages, but rarely go for beta version distributions anymore. That plus the fact that I had a bad experience with Fedora way back at the version 2.0 release, and have had lots of other bad experiences with RPM-based distros causes me to want to leave them alone for the most part. I'm quite happy they are available for those that like them, though!

Count me among the RPM lovers, I actually do like the whole RPM system......maybe that is because I used Redhat/Fedora exclusively for a number of years and I also had a "Maximum RPM" handbook and I still have the 1100 + page manual (Redhat 7 Unleashed) that my wife bought for me when Redhat 7 came out. I've not had many problems with RPM based distros except OpenSuse.. I used to think Redhat/Fedora was the "end all, be all" of Distros but I guess I outgrew it
or something because I don't use it anymore.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.
