No offense to the BSD community, but why are you guys always pissed off? Seriously, I have been to Linux forums, BSD forums, I have talked to Linux developers, and I have talked to BSD developers, but the BSD ones are always the meaner of the two. Here is my summary:

Linux-Friendly community, users are intelligent but not as technically advanced, more welcoming to new users and more helpful.

BSD-Unwelcoming to new users, angrier(trust me you don't want to say something like, BSD is better for servers than desktops), VERY UNHELPFUL(If you have little to no knowledge of what you're doing they will literally tell you to not use it and will hardly ever help you to learn to),users are more well...nerdy.

There are a few exceptions in both communities but the summary reflects my experience with both communities. Maybe you can relate.

From my own expereince, I think both communities are more or less similar. There are many in the Linux community who are welcoming and very friendly to others and then there are those who are arrogant and elitist. The same applies to the BSD community. I sometimes hang out in various FreeBSD forums and whilst some really dislike Linux and Linux users, the majority are very friendly. Its just like in real life, you get a mixed bag of personalities and characteristics in a group of people.

Have you ever visited the Debian forum? There are some really sarcastic types there.

I know the BSD people that I've come across are very passionate about their product...I got to respect that because they're a lot like me, I'm very passionate about Linux. I'm sure they'll come around..Gerard4143

I'm of the opinion that we should keep things here on the forum positive and where possible on the topic of Linux.

For Linux and its community to be good we don't have to run down any other group, whether they are Microsoft, BSD, Apple or anyone else. Let's be the guys with our heads held high and better things to do than gossip. Thread closed.
