Back in the days before all the security circus at the airport, I was late for a flight from SF to go back home to NY after a consulting/teaching gig. When I got to the gate, the plane had already pushed back, but then it came back to the gate and a passenger got off (a lady and babe in arms) who it seems left all her baby stuff at home... They let me on the plane, and I got back to Syracuse on schedule. Wouldn't happen these days, I think. I suppose you could say that Higher Powers called in the delay...
