    Hi everyone I'm a shiny newbie

    Hi guys,

    I'm brand new to the site and the forums and all shiny new to linux as well.

    My aim is to learn enough to be able to teach my two young kids about the alternative to that nasty Mr Gates and the fashion victims at Apple.

    No doubt I'll be picking all of your brains at some point in the future, so apologies in advance

    Cheers

    Funky

    welcome to the forums. What distro are you starting with? My colleague did the same thing and his two children love Linux, his parents are on it as well and his wife I think is on and off with it.

    Beginning can be a little tough but once you get the hang of it, I don't think many people regret the switch

    I'm also looking for an alternative to teach my kids. Pretty cool.

    Problem is they seem to learn alot faster than I do, so I'll have to do double time to stay ahead of 'em. LOL.

    welcome funkyrabbit! sorry about the previous post :}

    Welcome funkyrabbit!

    as you might know already (gulp...) i'm a newbie too.
    (both to the art of forums and linux)

    In did micro$oft software is too expensive (otherwise bill wouldn't be a billionaire)
    and macs are really cute but in the very end proprietary, closed and user unfriendly...
