KDE 4.x
I have not looked at the newest release of KDE 4.x but the pervious ones concern me.
I found it too hard to navigate. I do not dislike Gnome exactly but I do prefer KDE more.
KDE 4 tries for too much flash for me. Where is it going to lead?

I think the best place to find what the future holds for KDE4 is over at the KDE Techbase webpages:
Getting Started - KDE TechBase
They have information there about current development, goals, upcoming features, the future of the project, and so forth regarding KDE4. I've not been all that excited about the direction they've taken either, but my guess is that somebody won't be happy no matter where they take it.oz

As I see, KDE is a misunderstanding project ... from my programmer point of view, these guys are doing a very complex job with the development framework, much more well designed and complete than others. There is not only a framework for GUI, but for multimedia parts, semantic desktop, pim applications, social networking, inter-application communications, and mucho more. Also, is multiplatform by design and highly configurable.
But this is Open Software world: there will be people who like it, people who don't ... but everybody is welcome to contribute and improve.
I prefer KDE because I want and I need a lot of customisable options, I like to see and use my desktop as I want, configure a lot of keystrokes and write plugins for applications, and KDE give me all that stuff and more.EOF

I used to use KDE exclusively. Unfortunately, 4.3 is what 4.0 should have been. I moved on after being their unwilling alpha tester for two minor versions. Since leaving, I've just learned to make Gnome do what I need it to do.
I wish the developers all the best but it will be a very cold day in Hell before I use it again. Any group that would inflict KDE 4.0 onto those subscribed to "stable" repositories deserve to get smacked in the face with a large and rotten fish.
Twice.Aloof linux user #whatever.
I tested off the charts for MENSA. Unfortunately, it was off the wrong end of the chart.
