I doubt very seriously Apple is going to start pelting users of OS X with ads. They're already a niche market; the last thing they need is LESS users. This is probably one of those cover-your-rear patents so that they can extort money off someone in twenty years who makes a mint with a product that does this... or keep someone from doing so to them.

There is no underestimating the idiocy of corporate marketing types. Until Jobs tells them to stop it, if they can do it, it will happen...
