    River Prance Boho Ireland!

In my newspaper today was a Reuters photograph of a man carrying his child as he waded through the waters of 32 straight days of rain! Is Ireland still above sea level?

I have never been anywhere where it rained for that many days straight. As a teenager I was with my uncle on Martha's Vineyard Island during a two day hurricane. I think if it had of went on for four days the whole Island would have been underwater.

When my uncle opened the back door a wall of water went through the entire first floor of the house and exited through the front door and I had to listen to surfer ghost stories that whole summer..

There have been bad rains in Ireland but it isn't quite underwater yet. But the rain bands have now moved east and dropped about a month's rain on Cumbria onto already saturated ground. A small town called Cockermouth had eight feet of water cascading down the high street a couple of days ago. Floods are becoming an annual event in Britain.

Update from the BBC: six bridges have now been swept away in Cumbria including one major road bridge. That one is still standing but is doomed to fall soon; it has a major crack in it. People are having to make 90 mile detours.

Ouch, and double ouch!! Australia and parts of the United States are in dire need of rainfall and you folks are getting much too much of it. Mother Nature does whatever she wants wherever she wants. It is all very strange.

It's not across the whole country but the places that have been affected have really been affected. Galway has seen road closures, Cork has been almost closed off. It seems to be mainly the South and West that got it.

It's not that unusual to see that many days of rain at this time of year but the volume has been phenomenal. The rain is just coming so fast that you go from dry to flooded in an hour or so.

There is a funny thing about the rain here....everytime it stops most Irish people forget that we live in a rainy country so when it starts again it's complaints from everyone. Personally I wouldn't change it, it's the reason our country is so wonderfully green.

That Is a really great picture, BigTom! I checked and Boho is in Northern Ireland.

The worst normal rain that I even been in was in Georgia. One minute it was sunny, the next minute it got as dark as night and the the sky opened up so hard everyone had to stop their cars because you could not see anything except water on the windshield that the wipers were quite useless against.

Lots of rain does help plants thrive but when hills slide and bridges wash away that is a bit much. This past june on Staten Island we almost set a new record for the amount of rain that fell but it was nothing compared to yours.
