    Oh no! Bucketloads of spam!

There's a new spamming centre at work, or more likely a botnet. It offers fake pharmaceuticals - at least I assume they're fakes because obviously no-one who was on the level would use these methods. You can recognise them by their weird spelling, designed to confuse spam filters. They look like gibberish but you can just about decode them if you try. What is so annoying about these, compared with standard spam, is that you get several duplicates in each post and they don't half clog up your mailbox. Are other people getting them too or is it just me?

Not getting them myself. I run my e-mails through Google's spam filters though and they tend to catch most things

I've been getting these in my aggregation mailbox for some time, but my spam filter is pretty good at removing them before they gum up the works too much. Also get the ones for sexual aids, viagra, and todger-enhancers (guess they figured out I have a Y chromosome). The level has been lower lately, but still consistent. I probably find a dozen or so of these in my spam box every day.

I haven't had those Rolex ones for some time now. I do get ones for Viagra; you don't need a Y chromosome to attract those. But they tend to come singly. What is so annoying about the pharmaceutical gibberish is that it comes in bundles.

I feel your pain Hazel. My myway email accounts get most of the spam sent to me. It has a feature where I can have all email sent from certain addresses automatically deleted. What irks me though is any of my email addresses being passed around between companies or organizations.

How strange, I don't seem to receive any spam, or could that be because I always give my spam address to certain companies I don't trust, when they need an address.

Yeah. A lot of my spam are sent to accounts I no longer use, such as one at earthlink.net. Since they feed into my aggregator account, I get those as well. I never respond to them, so over time they drop me. As a result, while I get some spam, the volumes are manageable.

I forgot to mention that I found out that a lot of websites offer " email this article to a friend " some of those websites keep your email address and the email adresses of everyone you forward the article to.

So I have asked everyone to just include the URL in their email or to put the article in text as part of an email to me.

A friend added me to his Linkedin list and now I am getting notices that I have won lotteries that I never entered!!
