The thread is going somewhere else than wave invitation

Check @robertloop on Twitter he as Invites

What
Think about it.. Currently we at the office get emails from 5 places at the same time. However it all says something else while it all comes down to the exact same thing.
Wave is a great product / idea for replacing email / im and mail-lists. But also to replace forums and blogging systems.

I won't make a judgement one way or the other until I can try it. Presently I don't know anyone who could invite me so it'll have to wait until that time unless someone wants to jump start me.

At my office the whole "collaborative document" idea would flop. We just don't work like that. My boss sends me a task, I get notified. I notify him when the task is done. That is not in any way improved by the real-time factor.
You'll pry my forums away from my cold, dead fingers. One of the reasons I like forums (and email) rather than instant messaging or real-time chat is that I'm able to be infinitely more articulate when crafting my responses to things. I don't want people to see my thought processes. It's like making sausage.Wave is a great product / idea for replacing email / im and mail-lists. For the most part I agree with you TM. However, there are times when I want to brainstorm with colleagues who cannot just drop into my office - they might even be 1/2 way around the world! Rich collaboration tools are incredibly productive for such purposes. My guess is that some Google developer needed better collaboration tools to get feedback in real time from multiple coworkers in possibly widely distributed locations, so they built a Q&D cloud-based tool to do so. Then someone higher up in the Google hierarchy saw it and thought it would be a great addition to their public offerings - and voila, we have Google Wave!
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
Just remember, Semper Gumbi - always be flexible!
