I have Google Wave but I don't know if I have any invites. I'll have a look

I don't even know what Google Wave is for!

What is it? I've heard the name, but much like Twitter, I just don't understand what purpose it fulfills. Care to enlighten me about either one?

I have just been playing on it and it looks like an e-mail inbox but is instead used to chat such as MSN to ICQ. A nice feature is the text appears to other people as you type but I can see that causing problems.

People seem to think that later on it will let you use things like Facebook and Twitter in one place but there is nothing on there to do it at the moment

Sorry, I don't have any invites as yet though

I've heard that Wave will likely be the webmail of the future, but I've not been interested enough to look into it very deeply, although I did check out Google's video about Wave. I found it dull and uninteresting so I couldn't stick with it, but I don't blame others for their interest in it. Hope you are able to find an invite.

A friend of mine brought it up when we met at a concert the other evening. He uses it at work (he's an engineer at Motorola) and finds that it's a very useful collaboration tool. Probably worth looking in to, I think. Which reminds me that I need to contact him to send me an invite...

Thanks for that. I'm now 100% sure that this is a worthless product for me. I don't mean to be a curmudgeon here, but I very seriously doubt something like this will replace email. It might replace instant messaging clients in a workplace environment, but I won't use Wave for the kinds of things I use email for.
