Music! What Would We Do Without You.

    Hello Guys!

Music has played a big part of my life for quite a while now. From being a choir conductor in my college days; national singing champion when I was still a bachelor; doing gigs in hotels and lounges; playing the drums, keyboards, violin, organ, bass guitar and electric guitar; to being a musical director of bands (church) to the present.

Anyway, enough about me. May I please ask if any of you are also into music? I mean sing or play an instrument or just enjoy listening to music (of any genre). I had an american friend a long time ago and he introduced blue grass to me. I must admit it is also a very entertaining genre. I am attaching a site that you might want to check out on youtube. Its an MTV by Maroon 5.

Hope you enjoy it as much as i did.

    Cheers!

I try to play bass guitar and I have an electric guitar. I also have an acoustic guitar that I need to restore.

I listen to heavy metal (slipknot) and jazz (norah jones, harry connick jr., etc...). I also listen to just about any other genre, but those two are my favorite.

That's Cool! Maybe one day we can hear you shred some rifts.

Both of my parents growing up were music teachers. I was in band in middle school, high school and the first semester of college. I played the French horn. I was also a backup trumpet and rhythm guitar in high school jazz band.

I married a choir director who sings operas and rock music in her spare time. I guess you could say I've always been surrounded by music and musicians.

I have what my wife calls eclectic taste in music. Looking at the CDs in my car and the stuff on my iPhone, you'll see:

    Classical (mostly Bach)
Rock (mostly 90s and some late Beatles)
New Age (newest favorite is Zoe Keating)
    Piano (classical and contemporary)
Television Soundtracks (Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, FLCL)
Weird Stuff (Big Dumb Face, Afro Celt Sound System)

WOW! YOU ARE surrounded by music. French horn are one of the most difficult brass instruments to play, I heard somebody say.

Probably kill ourselves out of sheer boredom.

Music is a big part of life, always has been. From prehistoric times (beating sticks and stones while grunting), to modern day music (electric guitars, drums, and crack to make it sound good).

I can get on with any music. My collection can jump from R. Kelly to Andrea Bocelli to Britney Spears. As long as there is some thought gone into the music and lyrics I generally like it and find it easier to relate to

That said I can also have a good old dance to tripe such as The Saturdays (probably not known outside of the UK)
