    Certifications?

After a few years of debating with myself, I've decided to get my cert for Database Administration. I went to Techskills after my friend told me about it, and discovered that I needed to have a Linux+ Cert to get my SQL Cert, to get my MSITP-DBA Cert. Now, I can understand SQL or Oracle, but Linux? Really?

Now, the reason I'm saying this is to vent a little I guess. But now I am curious, is anyone else here certified and for what?

Ever heard of the LPI - Linux Professional Institute? Equivalent, probably better than MCSE/MCSD. The software is free, yet you can still charge for installation/handholding services.

What with Pacific/Atlantic Rim country governments going for Linux in a big way because of cost and Africa having the new Seacom 1.28TB cable (34.21 GB sold as of last night) down the East coast - India too, mind you - dare you ask?

Africa has just under 1 Billion inhabitants. One completely untapped market in education et al. It is the fastest growing cell phone market to date. Can't remember the detail, but several makes use Linux for OS. Google, you,ll find it.

I'm a Master Certified Webmaster (Designer and Developer). Included within that was the Sun Java Certification which was the hardest bastard exam I have ever taken.

With most of the exams in the MCWD I got the feeling that the examiners were trying to catch me out. With the Sun one, I knew they deeply and personally hate me. Nearly every question was a trick question on some obscure part of the language!

I only scored 88% in that one which dragged my average down

    Elija,
It's probably because I'm a yank, but what do you mean by the phrase "trying to catch me out". Do you mean like 'trying to trip you up' (i.e. get you to make a mistake)? I know... it's a dumb question. But my curiosity is killing me.

That's exactly what I mean. I think it's originally a cricket reference. The English and the Americans; divided by a common language
