A friend sent me an invite the other day, what's the deal with this dude? Is it kinda like an editable document or something?

I've been wondering about the hype and excitement also. Here's what Wikipedia says:
But so? For specific applications, this might be good, but Wikipedia itself, or a forum like this one could probably provide as good a platform.Waves, described by Google as "equal parts conversation and document", are hosted XML documents that allow seamless and low latency concurrent modifications. Any participant of a wave can reply anywhere within the message, edit any part of the wave, and add participants at any point in the process.
I don't get the hype.

I just got a invite from a buddy in Australia. I am researching what it all means myself. Looks to be a communication medium among invited friends from conference calling to video chat to posting documents like a wiki or whatever. Funny thing is. The only working webcams are on my 2 Netbooks. The Asus EEE and Acer Aspire. All my other gear has no webcams.
Still on the fence trying to find out more. Thanks for the invite Keiran but I already got one. Wouldn't want another member to miss out.Linux Registered User # 475019

Perhaps it's too early to tell, but there doesn't seem to be quite the frenzy over invites with Wave the way there was with Gmail.
