Wink Hello from Elliot Lake, Ontario

I am new to Linux but have about 48 years experience with computer systems starting with a large NORAD vacuum tube system in 1961, then worked in the area of mainframe and midrange systems until about the 1990's.

For PC systems, I have used and worked with DOS 1.0 through DOS 6, OS/2, Windows 3.1 through Windows XP. In my computer room I have PC's from a Pentium 166MMX to an Athlon 750 MHz, also three Macintoshes from 1990 to year 2000.

In the last few years I have picked up seven Linux distributions but did nothing with them. Now I am trying them out in chronological order. So far, I have tried out RedHat 5.2 and Mandrake 6. By starting with old distributions I should experience more problems and therefore learn more. These distributions seem to match the older Pentium I machines I have available. At this point, this is mainly an academic exercise, to broaden my computer experience. I am retired so why not.
