bing uses akamai http mirroring
the mirror servers run Linux
In other words, Microsoft uses Linux to speed up their websites.

Akamai is a Content Delivery Network (CDN) solution
This was debunked a while ago. Microsoft’s web servers are IIS 7.
With that said, Microsoft doesn't yet have their own competing CDN product like the one made by Akamai.
I've heard some rumors they might be working on one. But then why reinvent the wheel if someone else already has a solution?

This was discussed when Bing was first released
My apology. I misread what you wrote.
This was noticed by bloggers when Bing was first released. At the time, users were spreading misinformation that Microsoft was running Linux for their web servers.
I'm sure that Microsoft uses a lot of technology products they didn't invent themselves.
