If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate! (Zapp Brannigan)

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

    It's real

BBC News - Frozen Britain seen from above

Singular possessive: one UK has a cold winter = UK's cold winter. I am assured this is correct by the Internet so it must be right

Naaaah this kinda thing happens about every 30 years or so. ( I'm nearly 49)

Not so good for driving in on the minor roads.. Temp indicated on my dashboard is Minus 7c. On the way home it went down to Minus 12c (To Americans.. We only use metric here for temperatures)

The most dangerous part of my journey was... Our Liverpool depot. YES that's ice. Arse over tit as soon as you step out of the cab.

Nah, it's the jet stream. This is a fast air stream that circles the globe high in the atmosphere and normally guides westerly winds and Atlantic depressions over the UK. Now it's gone south so we have arctic air instead.

But the gulf stream could really shift or switch off altogether if global warming really gets a hold and then this kind of winter will become normal.

I was living in England in the Winter of 1962-63, which is what this winter is being compared to. Cold weather happens, just like sh!t. That winter it was so cold that when we went to the Italian Riviera to warm up over Christmas, it got so cold that the fountain in the plaza, just off the Mediterranean, froze solid! My mother just wrapped herself up in her electric blanket and shivered. I don't think we got warm until we got as far south as Naples and Pompeii.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
