Hello, all
Hi
Been using 9.04 and now 9.10 Ubuntu. Got some questions but not on this post. Just want to say Hello.
Tried many years ago to use linux, but because of my ISP (Juno) not supporting linux finally just gave up.Now we have semi-fast internet and am free to use any browser I want. Enjoy the satisfaction of not using M$ os. Some frustration with Ubuntu, but is to be expected as I am just learning. Would like to develope a very good understanding of how linux works. Have found most of my old books are way out of date. Not even sure how devices get mounted anymore. Used to be manually, then HAL and Udev, but seems HAL is deprecated , sigh. Well one question after all : any book recomendations? Been struggling with how to get things to mount when they don't automatically. Can't use Fstab from what I've read online. A good book would really help...Hello again Roger

Hi and welcome to the forum. Get a copy of Beginning Ubuntu Linux and the Official Ubuntu book. I think they are good for people getting started with Ubuntu.

For Ubuntu, https://help.ubuntu.com/ is a good place to startIf we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate! (Zapp Brannigan)
My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

"Beginning Ubuntu Linux" by Keir Thomas
"Ubuntu for Non-Geeks" by Rickford Grant
Those are the 2 I use and both are quite good.
