Symbian source being release tomorrow?
Symbian's revealing something tomorrow, but what? (update: open source!) -- Engadget Mobile
This is very good news for the open source community.
S60 is efficient. My e63 is as responsive, if not more than my buddies Nexus One that has a 1ghz snapdragon chip, which is several times faster than my e63's ~350mhz ARM11 chip. Tons of s60 users will be upgrading into an open source OS.
Recent actions by Nokia really make me think they will be the company to bring open source to everybody. With Meamo on the smartphone/internet tablet market and Symbian on the smartphone/feature phone market they seem to be much more dedicated to open source than Google. I do not feel like Google cares enough about users privacy and they are poor contributors to open source.
How does everyone else feel about this?

I have a S60v3 phone, so I'll be taking a look. I have absolutely no idea (yet) about how to compile it or how to get it onto the phone itself. Could be an interesting project.Linux user #126863 - see http://linuxcounter.net/
