Hi, I'm new here and to Linux
I was recently exposed to Linux from ITT-Tech, which I am currently attending, and found myself having a great deal of attachment to it. I'm in the CNS program at ITT-Tech and we are using Fedora 8 in class. I am considering going into the Linux field, since I am enjoying Linux much more than the 11 years of Windows experience i have.
I would like to apologize in advance if my questions may seem too "noobish." I don't know much of the lingo and acronyms yet, so please bear with me. With that said, I am glad to be part of this community and I hope you guys can help me out and I won't mind helping out anyone, if I know the solution of course.

Hello and Welcome.
We don't mind noob questions, as long as you do a good search before you post then everything should be just fine. Some of our members get a little cranky with noobs from time to time but for the most part they are a great bunch.
See this link for lots of good info on getting started with Linux.
