change the program's admin password in ubuntu

i want to change the administator password of a program running on ubuntu , i don't know the admistator password . only know the user name and its password . administator password means ,the administator password of the program running . without enter the admin mode we can't add or edit the programs data entry

administator password of program is not the root password of the ubuntu system . both are different . i know the root password and can enter into the system
