Is Novell in partnership with Microsoft or not?

I don't know, honestly. Deals like this involve armies of lawyers (if it even gets approved by Novell's board, which it might not) that will no doubt pick apart every contract the company has to see if anything can be shed or renegotiated.

The articles I read said that Novell is in very good shape as a company- high stores of capital and very little operating debt. They've just not been generating much excitement over the years and someone at the Elliot group thinks they can do better.

It's an interesting development, and regardless of the outcome it's something to watch.

I've got a feeling that the NOVELL shareholders or board will agree to sell. The problem for NOVELL is that whilst its generating profits from Linux and has lots of cash in the bank, the rest of the business is suffering losses. .
