    Hey y'all!

Hey I'm new! Look at me, I'm all shiny! *shine*

Anyways I've had a Freespire CD in the closet for a while now (I had it installed once, and I knew a little bit beyond the desktop, but my PC turned to crap), and I'm thinking about installing it in a little while. I'm pretty experienced with computers in general (mostly troubleshooting, I never seem to get away from it) and really experienced with Windows, and I was hoping to get a few pointers from all of you.

Note: My favorite way to learn is to build, and since I can (hopefully *cross finger*) build my own distro that would be really handy (and even neater!), so I'm starting a thread over here. I hope it's in the right place, I didn't see a "Build your own distro" section.

I also have a techpowerup account (under the same name) if that's handy at all.

    Welcome to the forums!

You might want to consider downloading a different distribution because the last stable release of Freespire was back in November 2007 so it's quickly becoming obsolete. Pretty much any of the top 10 or so distributions listed in the page hits ranking list at DistroWatch.com are usually a good place for new Linux users to start.

Hope you'll have fun with it...

Fedora and Ubuntu come in single-CD editions, if you aren't able to download a DVD.
