    Welcome to the community!

If you really want to understand linux, then IMO, you have found the right place! Don't hesitate to ask any questions regarding any issues you encounter. Plenty of gurus here who will be more than willing to share.

Allow me to offer you a welcome

Well, you chose Linux, so you're obviously intelligent. The only other thing you need is a willingness to learn. If you enjoy finding things out and knowing how things work, you'll find Linux easy. If you just expect to be spoonfed, you'll find it difficult.

I am much encouraged by everyones responses, both here an in my other post "can anyone help a beginner" I am enjoying experimenting with linux, but it is a bit bewildering, the jargon is a bit hard to get a grip on, and everything seems a bit strange. However, with every bit of help i have had, i have learned a bit more (sometimes more than the helper might have thought), and I am finding out some things for myself, so I don't think that I am being spoon fed.

    good luck to all
