Blocked by Lavabit.com
Hi,Your IP (124.104.114.132) has been flagged for past abuses and has been blocked from registering new accounts with our service. If you are not a spammer or phisher and you haven't had an account locked by us in the past, you can try requesting an account via our contact page. Please be sure to tell us the account name and password you want.
After reading through some threads, I decided to give Lavabit.com a try for my emails but when I tried to sign-up, I got the message quoted above. I don't understand why my IP is blocked "for past abuses". This is just the first time I even know lavabit even exist.
Thank you in advance for any explanations.

It sounds like someone else using that IP address has had one or more email accounts with them in the past and they used the accounts in abusive ways. If you really want an email account with them you'll probably have to use their contact page and provide the requested information as suggested in the message.

Looks like lavabit has suspended registering new accounts.
Hopefully they will allow signups soon.Due to a recent increase in the number of accounts being created for abusive purposes we have decided to suspend new user registrations until further notice.

Stumbled across this thread so I thought I'd answer. Whenever Lavabit locks an account for abuse, we also block the /24 the account was registered from. If we continue seeing abuse from nearby subnets we will sometimes elevate that to a /16 block. Keeping the spammers off our system is a high a priority.
Also wanted to mention, if your IP is blocked, just use the contact form at lavabit.com/contact.html to request an account and the ops team will create one for you manually. Unless someone is trying to abuse that registration channel, it usually only takes 1-2 days to get the account created for you.
