(Is that correct grammar in the title?)

Well, I mean on average. How many fingers do you use on the keyboard?
I have just realized I only need four, although I am very content with my typing speed. Compared to the time I have to think about the words, that is. But professional typists seem to be taught to actually use all 10.

I've always used all 10 for typing because that's the way I was taught to do it. My left thumb is probably the least used.

I voted 4, because that is what I use on a regular basis ... but when I try it I manage 6. I seem to get reasonable accuracy using 4 fingers but start making lots more mistakes using more.

I voted 10, because that is how many I actually use.

Except for when I am on my phone (like now). I only use 2 when using my phone.

For anyone that might be interested, those little typing tutor applications that are available really do help you to use the correct form and increase typing speed. You just have to stick with them for long enough to realize any benefit. I took 2 years of typing classes quite a few years back but still use the typing tutor applications if my speed or form start to degrade.

    10.

I have used typing tutor a lot to increase my typing speed. Its really a very good tutor.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I put 9. I was about to put 10, but I realized that I very rarely use more than 1 thumb at a time.

I'll still use all 10 fingers accross different typing sessions, but I tend to stick with only 1 thumb at a time because I tend to slow down with both thumbs on the space bar (they start thwacking eachother ... I have long fingers ... and thumbs .... Hi, my name is Glenn, guess how many fingers I have.)

I use all ten, and have a decent typing speed most of the time...

Then again there are certain mistakes that I make regularly... which is why /usr/bin/make is linked to /usr/bin/maek
