    net neutrality, internet vs FCC.

I've been thinkin about the whole network neutrality thing. and wondering if the FCC has any real intention of protecting network neutrality. I mean, they oversee Cable and telephone, and THOSE things have tierd services. and the last thing I want is a censored internet with interweb gestapo handingout fines for saying "****" and sharing porn. is the FCC's oversight of the internet really the right way to go? and is the FCC's intentions really in line with the worlds netizens?

This is indeed an interesting question and not to be answered easily.

I think it needs to be well balanced, just like in other areas of economy. One the one hand, there must be some protection like antitrust law. On the other hand, you don't want the government to interfere too much. Not always clear where to draw the line, but certainly it should be somewhere near the middle.

At the time being, I am not aware of concerning actions/proposals from the FCC, but saw some from internet providers.

Comcast won a suit against the FCC and their (the FCC) ability to enforce net neutrality is now seriously in question.

I hope that I am not going to break a forum rule here. The " problem " was the wires or cables which belong to private companies and just how much government control can be exercised in the public domain.

The New York State Lottery recently disbanded landlines and all of their lottery machines are now connected by satellite to their main servers.

The large apartment building that I live in allows cable for TV and broadband Internet, but FIOS is not available.

I am just an old man but as more people and more content gets onto the internet there are bound to be all kinds of problems with service.
