    Fine.

Wow, this looks pretty cool. I had a thing for light and fast distros back in the day (I've since become lazy and use full-blown KDE and Gnome installs), maybe I'll give this a spin. I take it that AntiX uses the Mepis package repos? Or Debian's?

    Or Debian's
Yes it uses Debians. Mepis repos are commented out in this release.

Cool - I actually prefer using the repos of larger distros. They tend to be better managed, plus there are more of them (which means faster DL speeds).

The next older computer I get, I'm going to try antix on it. I tried it in virtualbox, and it seems pretty good. On top of it all, it even has most codecs pre-loaded.

I run AntiX on more than just low end Hardware

I bought this Desktop with Ubuntu 9.10 preinstalled. To give you a idea.

I just got it up and running today. After I tweak Ubuntu a bit. I will be installing AntiX 8.5 on this beast also. It should fly on here. This box is the replacement box for my IBM M41 Desktop I run in my Motorcycle Shop that Boots AntiX 8.2, puppy NOP, and Bruno Puppy Linux. I haven't ever ran Ubuntu 9.10 0r a 64bit operating system so I figured to leave Ubuntu on the drive ( trying to learn something about ubuntu 64bit) and dual boot with AntiX 8.5 on it also. The i686 version though instead of the i486 version. I sold all my lowend laptops to pay for this beast. Bought it with the funds made from selling a IBM 390E, Compaq 1540DM, and a older IBM 600e. Both IBMs ran AntiX wirelessly when I sold em. The Compaq ran Tiny Core via PCMCIA 10/100 Ethernet modem.

I am way out of my league. I am an old Windows fart, but I am ready to learn something new. I am running an Athlon 2 and I tried to boot to a Fedora and a Debian distro. Both failed.
My other machines ae running latest 10x Ubuntu. I have to start somewhere.....

This is going tangent, but if we want to see how low we can go, this is VL6L on a thinkpad 770E
