Advice needed please
I was going to head out to the bookstore later on tonight and was thinking of purchasing a book to help me learn about linux. I'm almost done with my networking degree and from what I understand, this is used a lot out there in the field. I have zero knowledge on anything that isn't windows and I feel like I need to at least get the basics under my belt.
If anyone has any recommendations on any books out there for beginners, I'd appreciate it. I know there is a lot of reading material on the net but, I prefer an actual book if I can help it. Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forums!
One of the more often recommended generic Linux books is Running Linux, Fifth Edition, published by O'Reilly:
Running Linux, Fifth Edition - O'Reilly Media
Note that you can find the book for a better price with some online searching.oz

I think the following website would be a good supplement to your Networking Degree and the Running Linux book. It contains many distro specific instructions for setting up and configring various network software components
