    Downloading Movies Illegal?

    Hi Guys!

I have found this site Watch Movies Online For Free Full Movie Downloads where you can watch or download movies online.

I heard of a girl who was asked to pay quite a humongous amount because she downloaded some music? Frankly I personally feel that sucks!

Anyways, in the link above, there are also some movies marked "movie removed for violation of terms" blah blah blah...etc...sooo.... Would it be safe to assume that those movies that are not removed are okay to download?

Most of you guys have been in IT faaaarrrrr way ahead of me. May I listen to your opinions and information regarding this concern.

What are your thoughts on this please?

    Thanks as always!

EDIT: By the way, I know it says "Full Movie Downloads" but I guess I just wanna play it safe. Thanks again!

I'm not a legal expert but if I couldn't see a licence for the movie that clearly stated it is legal to download, I would assume illegal.

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

In the US, there are only a few places where you can download movies legally (iTunes, for instance) and they're heavily DRM-encumbered. Personally, if I have to ask I assume it's probably illegal. Sounds shady to me. I'd stay clear of it.

By the way, pardon my ignorance but does it mean to watch it on streaming would also make it illegal? Would it be okay since there was no download and the film was just watched like any video in youtube? Please advise.

    Thank you!

That's a common question with an easy answer - it's the exact same. The same data is transferred, same copyright infringed and yes - a file is written to your PC. Whether or not you keep it is really immaterial.

    Ohhhh. Thanks bigtomrodney.

I wonder why the proper law enforcement agency hasn't made a move against all these sites.

I discovered that there are quite a number online.

There are a hell of a lot. But its also very hard to prosecute one person (i.e owner of the website)

Rather they target the users who download the material

Mostly because the web servers of illegal content are often located in countries with no laws against this type of behavior
