What do you mean by "folklore"? There's definitely a hacker culture around Linux and open-source software in general, but I wouldn't necessarily consider it "folklore".

For a somewhat outdated intro to hacker culture, you can check out the Jargon File, I suppose, but some clarification may help .

I consider folklore a small subculture of people that work towards somthing not mainstream. This somthing is not bought or sold. There not really soild deffinintion. I have talked with many people and they also consider linux folklore.

Need more post or a interview....

    Thanks

"folklore", hmm. Never heard that word in that context before.
But here is a list of citable essays about the idealistic motivations behind the Free Software movement.

I think our "folklore" it's the love of liberty (of using the software what we want and how we want), the sharing of knowledge without restrictions in communities and in other, and the troll.

I would consider folklore to be stories, knowledge wisdom, etc passed by word of mouth from person to person and generation to generation, until it becomes so wide spread that "everbody knows". Linux hasn't reached that status yet, unless you consider the widespead knowledge that linux exists, and is free, as meeting the criteria. Perhaps someday everyone will have some working knowledge of linux, even if hey choose to use another OS.

You know, I've participate with Ubuntu-fr at Solution Linux 2008 at Paris, at this time, they were many coming for ask "What is 'Linoux'" or "What is Boubountou?", and this year, at Solution Linux 2010 lot of people come for buy some goodies like CD, T-Shirt, cup (I can send a picture... But the forum say "You are only allowed to post URLs to other sites after you have made 15 posts or more.") ... They are many to know GNU/Linux, Ubuntu and other distribution.
