    New here

    Hi everyone,

I am a new member here. I started using computers from the time of DOS and Apple II, progressed to Windows and Mac and started using GNU/Linux about a year ago. Now I almost exclusively use GNU/Linux. I don't consider myself an expert and will probably be asking a lot of elementary and stupid questions here, so please bear with me.

Me too, Apple 2+, 286 w/DOS, 386 w/DOS, 486 w/Win3.11, 500 MB Pentium w/Win98, 1.8 GHz Athlon w/Win2K, and now using Debian Lenny on that last machine, Slitaz on some older machines w/limited resources, and Mepis on one or two "newer" old machines while my spouse uses PCLinuxOS on a 2.9 GHz triple-core Athlon II. Linux rocks our world! Welcome aboard.

The only stupid question is the one you need the answer to but refuse to ask.

Thank you, everyone for making me feel so at home here. Like Edlergeek I have been using computers since the days of DOS and Apple II but I never had time to master any of them. Now that I am retired and have more time on my hands but less money, I am hoping to get to grips with Linux. Thanks for having me and I hope to learn from all of you.
