Testing Antix 8.5 i686 core
Doing some testing for Anticapitalista who released Index of /antix/Testing
One version is for i486 computers. The other is for i686 computers.
Think of it as a Xubuntu alternate install type of cd with xorg having to be installed with apt-get plus any other app you may wish to install from Debian like Desktop (Fluxbox, Icewm, Gnome-Lite, Etc....)
My post in the thread and a description of Antix core ISO below. All I did was download, check md5sum, and burn the ISO like any other Distro using Braserio. I liked the Cli installer and the minimalist aspect of this distro release. It was fun to set up.

Hey rok!

I wanted to try this but I am running short of space in my HD. I think I can spare 5G though. You think it would be enough?
Thanks!
By the way, I heard your already into soccer and have been following the WC?

I just gave it 5 gig on my 30 gig hardrive and still have 70% left after installing all the Applications and Fluxbox also. It is only a little less than a 100mb ISO so 5 gig should be plenty.
Yeah, I've been watching the day games of FIFA in South Africa also. The guys at Mepis lovers and AntiX forums got me interested in it. Rooted for Japan and Cameron today. 1 out of 2 aint bad. Liked New Zealands mettle also. They should be proud over in Kiwi land.
High hopes for USA team. But I am a realist also. Just roo it.
Edit: Forgot to mention. This ISO won't pick up your other operating systems if you try and install grub to mbr. You will have to install grub to root and modify your present grub bootloader to include the core Iso since I know you multiboot. I have this Iso installed by itself on one of my broken testing laptops. No multiboot on it. Read Antis notes in that thread before trying it out.Last edited by rokytnji; 06-25-2010 at 03:21 AM.
