Another thought
Something that I might find useful would be an online terminal. This terminal wouldn't do anything, of course, but it would show me what would happen if I was typing my commands in a real terminal on my computer at home, for example.
Would perhaps be helpful to new users that want to try things when they don't have access to their computer, or if they don't want to risk anything on their computers.
Maybe this already exists. . .
Just a thought.

Hello and welcome!

I don't know if they offer anything like that, but LinuxCommand.org is a good place for some quick and easy command line lessons if you feel the need for them:
LinuxCommand.org: Learn the Linux command line. Write shell scripts.
You could always suggest your idea to them if you don't want to build it yourself.oz

Thanks.

Right now I'm far too much of a novice to build one. I'll check out that site!

If you want to type things in without any risks, you can run a LiveCD or use a virtual machine.
That said, some people offer shell access for everybody without registration. The machine would then be reset once in an hour or so.
Here you go:
Unix: Free Shell AccountsDebian GNU/Linux -- You know you want it.
