At the moment working on automating test tasks and logging. This is a bit new for me, but I'm confident that this is the place to learn

Welcome to the forums. It sounds like you are working in a development environment that is using Linux quite a bit, given the "test/log" work you are involved with currently. Programming and scripting questions should be posted to the "Linux Programming & Scripting" forum. What Linux distributions are you working with?

I am currently working with SLAX for booting and running test software, and I use Ubuntu 10.4 through VirtualBox for testing scripts and learning bash commands at my workstation.
I have also been using SuSE a little, mainly on PS3.
Actually my work environment is very new to Linux. I am the one mainly responsible to introducing it here.
