    Allow me to introduce myself

    Hello.

    I`ve been a linux user since mid-2007.

The first computer I ever owned came with Ubuntu 7.04 on it.

I use/have used a variety of distributions, mainly Debian(based), but also Slackware, Puppy, Arch etc.

My main family computer will always have Ubuntu on the default partition, because the wife and kids know how to use it.

I would say I`m a competent home user. I can knock up a bash script as long as it doesn`t involve regular expressions (which seem beyond me). I know alot about very little and very little about alot.

I don`t need much help often, but figured I may be of use here from time to time, atleast if no-one else is around.

I`m a very active member of Ubuntu forums. I have never used Windows (not out of principle but just because I don`t know what I`m doing) - I have never seen a Mac in real life - although the pictures look nice.

    Bash script

I wrote my second bash script the other day to automate my computer chores that I do once every week. I never thought about doing it until I happened to read an article about it. It was easy to write and works
