Google isn't always your friend!
Yesterday I fielded a query on another part of the site from a newbie who had been configuring evolution. He was puzzled by the references to smtp and pop3 servers so he did what newbies are always told to do: he googled. And what he came up with was a HOWTO on setting up your own smtp server, which scared the living daylights out of him. No wonder people think that Linux is for geeks only!
Perhaps we should be more careful with our advice."I'm just a little old lady; don't try to dazzle me with jargon!"

Amen Hazel. As a newbie, I have often been "Dazzled with the jargon" and left with the impression that linux was too complicated for me to use. Fortunately I am just stubborn enough to just try a different distro or approach rather than getting lost and overwhelmed by baffling command line or script suggestions.

As with most friends, sometimes they can be just a bit overwhelming!
However, I have found the answer to most of my gnarly questions with Google's help, but it does take some effort to winnow out the dross from what you really need. So, would I prefer an Internet with, or without Google? The answer is clear to me - with, please!
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
Just remember, Semper Gumbi - always be flexible!
