I have this book here:
Beginning Linux Programming 4th Editition - by Niel Mathew and Richard Stones.
I find it to be pretty useful, and it's taught me shell scripting well.It actually goes further than shell scripting, and moves on in the final few chapters to cover GTK+ and Qt if you are interested in those.
That said, there are a lot of free tutorials online which you could use to learn shell scripting, such as this one (google "linux shell scripting tutorial pdf")
