Hello all!
New to this forum, but somewhat active in the Mint and Ubuntu Forums.
Currently running:
Primary PC: Dual Boot Mint Isadora (GDE), 32 Bit/ Windows 7, 32 Bit
Laptop: Mint Isadora (GDE), AMD 64 Bit
Alternate 1: Mint Isadora LXDE RC, 32 Bit
Alternate 2: Xubuntu 10.04, 32 Bit
and LOVING IT!!!
The two alternates are 7 Years Old. Alternate 1 is a Dell Workstation and Alternate 2 is a Compaq Workstation. These are the two that started me down the Linux Path. Both had Windows XP Pro SP3, but started having a lot of trouble with Malware. I knew they were not capable of a Windows 7 Upgrade, and I didn't really want to spend the money on them, so I moved them to Linux to get a new lease on life.
After months of research, I initially decided on Ubuntu 10.04 and ran them via Live CD for a couple of months. Initially I wasn't impressed with the Live CD because it was really slow with only 512MB RAM Available, I went ahead and made the installs totally wiping Windows from those systems. The more I used Linux, the more I grew to truly enjoy the experiance, but there were a few issues, so I went off in search of lighter Distros for those two PC's. Xubuntu is what I decided on for the Compaq, and it was pretty peppy.
During my Search, I stumbled across Mint Isadora and decided to Dual Boot my Primary PC into it. Currently I am replacing my Windows Programs with Open Source Alternatives, and very seldom have a need to Boot into Windows anymore. Eventually it will go away, and I will be all Linux, all the Time.
Anyway,
Isadora LXDE RC was launched, and my college aged son was having issues with his Vista. Bye Bye Vista. Hello Mint Isadora LXDE RC. Very nice Distro, and very fast to boot. Afterwards, I went ahead and gave it a spin on the Dell Workstation with great results.
One day, while working on the Compaq Laptop, I noticed it didn't have any sound whatsoever and decided to see if the Mint Isadora AMD 64 Bit would have the same problem, which it did, but that is another Topic for another Forum, which I'm sure will end up being solved eventually.
In conclusion; We are becoming a Linux Driven Family, and Proud of it!
Thank You All,

Welcome Dave,
Hope you like the forums. Your story is similar to mine back in the days when I started running Xandros and Fedora Core 1... Nowadays, I consider it a pain to run Windows at my office...
Take care,
