new to these forums, not new to Linux or computers.
I'm from the Chicago-land area.
Been dabbling with Linux since the late 90's.
Decided to take it alot more serious now.
Employment prospects, ya know...
I have several machines, not all Linux.
My main man is a Mac(still on a PowerMacG5, no intel yet).
I have 2 windows machines because no OS is an island, and I'm not the only one here that spends alot of time on a computer.
I learned a long time ago that the idea of introducing casual users to Linux is done with good intentions, but really only causes me more problems.
I just don't have the time and patience to teach people to use it, or to deal with the problems they have doing normal tasks.
Let's be honest here, some folks are much better served by windows.
I prefer *nix based machines(still have an old Sun running Solaris10, but it has what I believe to be a bad CPU).
I like Linux for it's flexibility, open architecture, and plethora of tools.
Not cuz I fancy myself a hacker of some sort.
My preferred distro is Debian cuz it's the "universal operating system" and the one I'm most familiar with.
I've used many distros but always came back to Debian so now I'm stickin with it.
Later...
