    One Man's Junk...

Hi Everyone. I have not posted here in quite a while. I would like to refurbish PCs for families that can't afford a new one. I would use a version of linux such as mepis or ubuntu and promote open source. Does anyone have any ideas where to get used hardware or how to go about getting it? If anyone knows of an organization that refurbishes PCs and could use some extra help I would gladly give my time. It should be in central Indiana. I would be grateful for any help. thanks in advance.

I can be found either 40 miles west of Chicago, or in a galaxy far, far away.

As for the refurbishing part, I can't say, but here in Illinois we use Freecycle a lot for this sort of thing.

You might try volunteering at the nearest Goodwill, Salvation Army or church thrift store. These organizations often receive donations of old or non-working computer equipment and could use someone who knows how to service/fix it.
