Team Building that dosn't know "Imposible"
I came here because I have had an idea I've been studying on. Understanding the peer review gives the best of R&D and bug fixing, and the Linux community is the largest for the level of R&D I need, where better to start learning, and find project partners. So let me get to the meat and potatoes of this little monologue.
I am looking to make a distro of Linux that uses a small modular hybrid structure that is an adaptable live boot. Something new and original that builds on the best aspects of all Linux types, like Debian, Gentoo, Pacman, RPM, Slackware, BSD, Etc. core Linux types. That it has all those distros strengths in a Knoppix like size with Morphix modularity. Seeing as there are distros that are hybrids of two or more other distros, I don't see what the problem would be other than size and time.
So that apps and plug-ins for this distro are user made, can be built for any task, the GUI is user friendly and seamless in use. That the OS is totally in the background and only when wanted to be seen can be seen. and can be used on any system architecture, and adapted to any role like Home user, HTPC, Server, Cluster interface, Super Computer, Hybrid systems, etc.
The goal is to make it that all you need is a USB drive between 16GB 's to 256GB's to hold this beast. One this I'd like to see also so this can be more accessible to none Linux users, is that regardless what OS you boot your computer up on, this can work Parallel with that OS, as if they were both the main OS, but this on being smaller OS, can run on that system like it was a Bios or Firmware base protocol in terms of system usage. So think of it this way. Lets say you booted up Widows or Mac OS X, and you wanted to Boot this up without shutting down, and you don't have a Parallel OS Emulator, nor do you want this in Emulation.
You just plug the USB into the computer, and execute the the Boot via the My Computer, or system overview, and the OS Boots from the Flash and runs in the background, Lets say you are a gamer like I am, and you want to record your gaming on the PC or Mac, but you don't want to use system heavy apps like FRAPS. This OS could do that with no system demanding codexing or formatting.
Because Widows or Mac see it as an App. So you download the App to this distro so it can do that job, and it dose it in the background using light weight Lost-less files for recording. And sense the Windows or Mac OS see it as a small App, it takes little resources to do this, for it uses as little system resources as it can. Now the fun of this idea is, lets say you booted this OS first and wanted to boot Window, or Mac OS, you can do like before and boot the HDD/SDD based OS without shutting this one down. and like before the see it as an app. Also I am looking to make it that file formatting in this OS is of a codex that is cross platform compatible, and can be read by the HDD/SDD based OS, That way lets say you wrote a code extension for Mac and you want Mac OS to see this file, this OS Writs it to the disk in a save directory you specified so that Mac OS can see it and you can find it. I'm not looking to make a App like OS, but a OS that can function on its own, or in tandem with a main OS, so to add greater freedom to developers and end users alike.
Thus eliminating the need for slow and recourse demanding emulation. Now the problem on such a large project would obviously be, where to begin. I need help on this, to be blunt, I can't code for the life of me, the last time I tried to code, I made the computer self destruct catastrophically. I mean there was no Blue Screen of Death, but blue smoke and fire.
So I need more competent coders and and Cross-platform users. I want this Distro to work with other Distros and with Closed Source OS's equally. That this OS make the process of Distro making and App making, a more simple, but robust and verittous task. I can coordinate this and test betas with others to feel if its going in the right direction, but the real work, I sadly can't really do. All I know is where I want to take this as a beginning, after that, the rest is up to those that use this.
Thanks for those that listen to my crazy rant, I hope some one can help me get this idea burning up my brain out and in the world. When it comes to name all I can think of for this distro to describe it is Hybrid, or Chimera
