I never got into KDE. I must be one of the few people that really doesn't like the basic look of it. I've been using Gnome 99% of the time. I installed Fluxbox, but I haven't had time to really mess with it and configure it how I want it. I've been wanting to try Xfce too, but I'm just going to wait until I install FC3 instead of downloading it.

I don't want to start yet another KDE vs Gnome discussion here. They both appeal to certain groups of people, and have their strengths and weaknesses. I just happen to be in the KDE camp.

I don't really know the true pros and cons of either one, I just have heard that KDE is a resource hog and I like the Gnome look better

Any full desktop environment takes up a lot of system resources, be it KDE, Gnome, Darwin, what have you. Also, some people consider a window manager that takes up more than 1MB of system memory to be a resource hog, so it's really just personal preference IMHO.

I prefer the KDE look and feel, some prefer the Gnome look and feel, still others prefer the MS Windows look and feel. The point to me is that in Linux you have the ability to *choose* what look and feel appeals to you, and that's a good thing.

The last desktop enviorment I used was blackbox. The only reason I used a desktop enviorment was that I wanted a web-browser that could view pictures.
Now I'm not using any desktop enviorment at all.

Blackbox is a Window Manager, not a Desktop Environment. The difference is that a Desktop Environment provides more than just a device to create windows, it also provides applications like a file manager (Konqueror/Nautilus), Office software (KOffice), IM apps (Kopete), its own window manager (kwm, sawfish), and various system services.

Sorry to split hairs here, but there's a difference.
