I never got into KDE. I must be one of the few people that really doesn't like the basic look of it. I've been using Gnome 99% of the time. I installed Fluxbox, but I haven't had time to really mess with it and configure it how I want it. I've been wanting to try Xfce too, but I'm just going to wait until I install FC3 instead of downloading it.

I don't want to start yet another KDE vs Gnome discussion here. They both appeal to certain groups of people, and have their strengths and weaknesses. I just happen to be in the KDE camp.

I don't really know the true pros and cons of either one, I just have heard that KDE is a resource hog and I like the Gnome look better
- 11-12-2004 #14Any full desktop environment takes up a lot of system resources, be it KDE, Gnome, Darwin, what have you. Also, some people consider a window manager that takes up more than 1MB of system memory to be a resource hog, so it's really just personal preference IMHO.

Agreed. The point to me is that in Linux you have the ability to *choose* what look and feel appeals to you, and that's a good thing.

I haven't tried GNome yet, as soon as i get the hang of linux, i surely will try it. For now, KDE is more than ok.

The last desktop enviorment I used was blackbox. The only reason I used a desktop enviorment was that I wanted a web-browser that could view pictures.
Now I'm not using any desktop enviorment at all.
- 11-12-2004 #19Me too, but I also use Windowmaker, so I had to vote for other.
